CommunicationsThe purpose of the Communications Program is to give students the opportunity to learn how to express themselves in an open, caring, and honest manner and to learn how to confront themselves and others with respect, integrity, and accountability. Thus, students learn how to share and to communicate personal responses in life's situations. This aspect of our educational program is the thread that unites and sustains all aspects of our School community.

Communications Groups for Self-Expression with Accountability provide opportunities for students to learn to become self-reflective and to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The School believes that all adolescents benefit from learning how to express the complex, contradictory feelings and needs invoked as they begin to experience life and their relationships. Communications Groups meet twice weekly, under the guidance of a trained faculty group leader. Initial reservation soon dissipates as students grasp the meaning of and welcome the opportunity for self-expression in a group setting.

There is a weekly School Meeting where all members of the School community may bring forward any issue for discussion. The Committee for Accountability serves as a forum to hold members of the School community accountable. Faculty members and students serve on this Committee that meets weekly to address issues brought to it by faculty and students. The purpose of bringing an issue to the Committee is to bring about accountability that leads to a change in understanding, attitude, or behavior.
