HEAD OF SCHOOL

In 2008, Matthew Campbell Woodhall became the second Head of School. He received a B.A. in English and a M.A. in school leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to joining the Woodhall School in 2004 as Dean of School, Mr. Woodhall taught, coached, and served as Associate Director of Admission at other New England boarding schools. He and his wife reside on campus.

THE FACULTY

There are 17 full-time faculty and administrators, 12 of whom live on or near campus. They hold 13 Master and 2 Doctorate degrees. Upon joining the School, all faculty members receive training in the pedagogy of the Woodhall Program and in the Communications Program. They are also encouraged to participate in further professional development.

Faculty members share responsibility for the personal and academic growth of each student and participate in all four components of the School: academics, communications skills, student life, and smiling teacher with studentathletics. Woodhall seeks to recruit teachers who believe in a young person's potential for growth and change and who are willing to be a part of a living and learning community based on respect, integrity, and account ability.

Each student has a faculty advisor who meets with each week and who monitors all aspects of a student's growth and needs in concert with the Head of School. If professional counseling is necessary, the Head of School will make the arrangements and stays in contact with the counselor.
