As an educator and a mother, I always have believed that each child is a gift and that parents and schools need to work together to help the child develop his spiritual, intellectual, and emotional potential. I had the opportunity to work with young men who had experienced difficulty in their personal and academic growth in traditional school environments. I knew that education extended well beyond the classroom. This was especially true for boys who had experienced failure and frustration and who had a low self-confidence in spite of their many gifts and talents. I did not know of a school that offered young men the opportunity to break the cycle of failure through an integrated approach to education. Thus, I founded a small boarding school for boys needing a chance to develop self –confidence and to experience success. It was my goal that this school be deeply rooted in a humanistic approach to education which addresses the whole child; head, heart, and soul.
